Ripa Dungsey Tenzin Nyima was born in 1959 as the son of Namkha Drime Rabjam Rinpoche and Semo Tsewang Drolma of Bonkar family. From his uncle, Drubwang Adzin Rinpoche, and his father, Namkha Rinpoche, he received the initiations, scriptural transmissions, and instructions of the Tagsham cycle, the Precious Treasury of Terma (Rinchen Terdzo), and others. He currently serves as the spiritual core for Rigon Tashi Choeling monastery in Tibet and its surrounding population, promoting the three spheres of activity.
